Class A/Field Uniform The Class A shirt is a tan uniform scout shirt with tabs, troop insignia, patrol, current rank, and position of responsibility (if applicable). Scouts also need to wear their neckerchief, a slide and BSA socks (when in short pants) or a BSA belt (when in long pants). As a scout is put in a patrol, earns a rank or position of responsibility the troop will give the scout his appropriate patches. The scout uniform is an important part of being a Boy Scout. The uniform not only displays the Scout’s troop affiliation, advancement awards and leadership position, but also reflects the respect that the scout has for scouting. Class B Our troop also has a Class B shirt for wearing around camp and other times that leaders announce. Scouts may purchase these shirts from the troop. Hats If a hat is worn while the scout is in his Class A or Class B uniform, it is to be a BSA hat of some type. Non-BSA hats are not appropriate for troop activities. Merit Badge Sash If worn, merit badges are attached to front (and back if needed). Typically scouts only wear this at Court of Honor. What do I wear and when?
